About Us

Michael Lomotan, owner/CEO of Lomotan Consulting, is a seasoned fashion design director who obsesses over creating exciting products that delight consumers.  He builds and guides brands who share this obsession by deftly balancing art and commerce, leveraging his elevated design aesthetic with an MBA-honed business acumen.  He understands the importance of balancing artistic expression with commercial viability, and his strategic insights have proven instrumental in driving business growth and profitability.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the fashion industry, ranging from runway (Pamella Roland, Christina Perrin) to specialty retail (White House | Black Market, Boot Barn), fashion-tech startups, luxury accessories (Adrienne Landau), private label (Maggy London), and designer showroom sales (Claude Montana Cerruti 1881).  His ability to connect with consumers and anticipate demand enables him to create brand-building collections that resonate and generate revenue.

With a finger on the pulse of the ever-evolving fashion landscape, Michael continually explores new techniques, materials, and technologies that push the boundaries of design.  His commitment to diversity, sustainability, and ethical practices has also led him to champion ESG initiatives, integrating them into his design processes whenever possible.  He learns and employs generative AI technology to expand possibilities in creativity, using aesthetic intelligence to inform artificial intelligence.

His innate curiosity and eclectic interests fuel his aesthetic and enable him to synthesize global trends and craft compelling product stories.  He has a broad knowledge of world cultures, architecture, music, and histories of art and fashion which inspires him and the teams he leads.

A lifelong learner, Michael recently took a hiatus from fashion to earn an international MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.  He also holds a bachelor of arts degree in Romance Languages from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a dual major in Italian and French as well as a degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
